Stock History Analyzer

This tool will provide information on the short and long term returns for a single stock.

Instructions For Use

This tool is made specifically for .csv files generated by Yahoo Finance. To create a file to upload:

  1. Go to Yahoo Finance
  2. Type symbol of the stock you want in the search bar and press enter
  3. Click on the “Historical Data” tab
  4. Select a time period (I normally choose Max)
  5. Change the Frequency to Monthly
  6. Click Apply
  7. Click Download

The downloaded file can be uploaded directly below.

* Returns are calculated with this formula

Return equals end close value divided by start close value to the power of one over the number of years
End close value and start close value use the adjusted close column in Yahoo Finance, and number of years is based on the time between the start and close dates.

** Average returns are the average of the return values of a specific time frame. For example the 10 year average return is the average of every 10 year return calculated from the .csv file.
